The Email That Made My Day
The publishing experience can sometimes feel like a lonely one. You spend months, even years, holed up in your office, alone with your characters. Then, you sell the book, and a few more people read it—and critique it—and then there’s the long, long wait until publication. Then you get a box of advance reader copies in the mail, and you shyly send them out into the world … and wait. Well, I’m at that stage now, and early reviews are starting to come in. While I hold my breath, and know that not everyone’s opinion of the book will be favorable, it’s so fun, and completely exciting, hearing from those who have read and loved VIOLETS. Here’s an email I got from a reviewer this morning that absolutely brightened my day:
“I just finished The Violets of March. I started it last night, couldn’t put it down, stayed up far too late desperate to unravel the clues and woke up with one goal in mind, finishing your book. Sarah, it was amazing! I loved it so much! I never write emails like this to authors, typically I will just post a review (which I will be doing soon…and trust me it will be *glowing*) but I just felt like I wanted to reach out to you and tell you how much I adored your novel. Just beautiful, from start to finish a perfect story.”
I have a huge grin on my face!

That’s amazing, Sarah! I already couldn’t wait to read it, but the rave reviews that keep coming in are getting me even more excited!

That’s the most perfect response an author can get!
