Are You a Mom? Leave a Comment to Win a Copy of My New Novel, The Bungalow!

I wrote a little something for the MOPS (Mother’s of Preschoolers) email newsletter today (hello MOPS!), so, I feel like giving away a copy of my new novel to one deserving, perhaps overworked mother (like me). For the record, I have three little boys—5 and under. Moms, let’s stick together!

I’m on a book tour this month—and having a blast—but it’s quite something to go on a book tour when you have three young children to care for. Before each trip, I’m making sure everything’s attended to so my little guys are happy and comfy before I go (daddy and grandparents are helping a bunch—and the baby goes where I go, so lots of plane travel with baby!), and that means lots of extra prep work before each trip. Moms, you get this! We work hard (even when we’re not going on a book tour!) and because we all could use time to kick our feet up more and read, I’m giving away a copy of my new novel, The Bungalow, to one mother (at random). I’m also tucking in some chocolate, too, to make it extra special. 🙂 Just leave a comment below! I’ll choose a winner this week.

P.S. Not a mama? Don’t worry, I’ll do more giveaways soon!

I really needed the reminder today in the MOPS newsletter! I am a mom of 2 soon-to-be 3 and it is so easy to forget that we do have seasons in life. This is my season to be the best mom I can be and love my kiddos despite whining, tantrums, and the naughtiness! Because they are all God’s gift to us and let’s be honest who can resist being told you are the most very best mommy in the world at the end of the day!?! 🙂 thank you again. I needed this today and look forward to checking out your books at the library!!!

After Violets, you shared pics of your anniversary party that was a benefit for a charity. Now, we learn you are writing for MOPS. How truly lovely are the things you do, Sarah Jio. So wonderful to watch a young woman of such virtue be a humble and admirable role model. The Bungalow was brilliant!

I am a mom; however, my kids are now in their early 20’s. It seems like just yesterday they were babies, and I was a frantic for “me” time and “girlfriend” time. What I’ve learned through the years, and what I like to share with today’s young moms, is to enjoy each and every moment that they have with their little ones. The years will fly by—much more quickly than you realize or are ready for—and all too soon, you will be like me…with lots of time on your hands and really longing to turn the clock back so you can have those years all over again.

So, don’t worry about all the extra-curricular activities you might be missing. And don’t worry about a Better Homes & Garden kind of house. (clean is essential, yes, but magazine-perfect is not.) Just enjoy playing with, talking to, reading to, and training up your children.

Aloha! I’m a mom of three lovely “kids”. My oldest are now 32 and when they were precious baby boy twins my days were often long, hard and yet always joyous. I often changed almost 150 diapers a week with the two fo them and prayed every night that they would make a difference in the world someday. They are now worship leaders and rock stars but with a positive message rather than like some who are awful role models. We had a girl next and I prayed the similar prayer and now she is a talented singer/songwriter and reaches out to those less fortunate. I’d love to win the book but regardless I am blessed as a mom and seeing the rewards now are really reward enough!

I feel sometimes that I am busier now than when my own children were little. I finally realized why that was ~~ when my kids were little, I controlled what and how much they participated in activities. I don’t have any control of that now ~~ I just go to all of it be a part of their lives. And I LOVE it!! Busy and all.

    Hi Sarah!

I’m a mother of 5 sons and one step-son. Our oldest are fraternal twins! I am convinced that it’s easier to have twins first. One baby at a time is a cinch after that!! Our youngest, at 20, is forever 2, since he’s developmentally delayed. With this joyful boy/man, my husband and I will stay forever young <3 I also taught pre-school for 13 years, and was loving it until the school closed.

One word of advice: savor every moment with your little ones, because your time with them is all too short!

To be fair, I already have the book, and thanks to you, I have finally found one this new year that I actually LIKE! That being said, I am a mom, teacher, and reading specialist. Whew! We lead busy lives, but no matter what-family first. My kids are the most important blessing I have. FYI-If I got the signed copy, I would pay it forward with my copy. Thank you for doing a giveaway!

I am a MOPS coordinator, a massage therapist, and the mother of two awesome boys (3 and 8). I am encouraged by my MOPS friends and by all of you who’ve shared a bit of your story here. Thank you! I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom of a soon to be 13 year old daughter. She is my late life child of 5. I certainly can relate to your MOP stories. I am on my last stretch of the lasts of the lasts of my children and many memories go along with this. I have 3 beautiful grandchildren which I get to enjoy beautiful memories with watching my older daughter and son being the best parents to them. It is such a joy to sit back and enjoy this knowing that you have accomplished the best job of your life and your able to watch it transform right in front of you! What joy!! Looking forward to this next book. I really enjoyed Violets of March!!!

I loved the Violets Of March…what a good read. I have one girl and three boys…two in there forties and two in there thirties. You never stop being a Mom. Loved it when they were little, but its really nice when they grow into big people and you can have four new friends. Now I love the grandbabies too.

A number of interesting stories can be derived just from reading the comments here, Sarah! (I’m totally with Carrie, whose family just came through the stomach flu–same here, so I can def. empathize. Also with Lisa, who said it might take a page-a-day for a year for we busy moms to read even an enjoyable novel.) Like many readers here, I’m a mom to two lovable preschool-aged pips, ages 2 and 4, boy and girl. Sarah, frankly I don’t get to read much positive or inspirational fiction–it’s usually pretty dark, depressing, and/or tending toward nonfiction on the sister crafts (at least in 2012) of writing and marketing–so The Bungalow would be a welcome change for my brain and emotions! In any case, thanks for the chance & good luck to all.

I don’t want it to end! My birthday is September 26, so BLACKBERRY WINTER will arrive just in time! I’m mommy to three kids…and mine were superclose together like you…my oldest was 3 when my third baby was born! I totally get what you mean!…planning a trip with no kids to the grocery store is hard enough, let alone a book tour! Congrats on everything! xoxoxo

It was encouraging to read your post on MOPS that writing is possible with small children. But, I would certainly like to know how you do it. I have a four year old and would love to start writing. By the time I get that precious hour of uninterrupted time, I can barely put two words together.

I am a mom of two rambunctious and funny little boys, 6 & 16 months, and a member of our small local MOPs group too. I just finished reading Violets of March and thought it was wonderful. The little ones caused me to take several days to read it but had I had more consecutive free time I would have had it done in a day or two. I look forward to reading your next book.

We have been seeing doctors, trying diet things, stool softeners, benefiber, etc., etc. I would LOVE a copy of your book and to ‘get away’ in a story right about now! Thank you:)

Just finished THE BUNGALOW. AS a mom of three girls, ages 31, 28 and 12, I have always been there for their experiences of broken little hearts; now my heart has been broken hugely and I had no one to confide in but my outlet through reading your book.
I just finished it and my Kleenex is by my side and my eyes are red and puffy.
Thank you for the emotions .
    Happy Mother’s Day.
