Giggles & Tears
Babies! They go from giggles to meltdown in seconds. Want proof? Check out this adorable scene starring my husband, Jason, and our little guy, Russell, at 6:30 p.m. (the fussy hour) in our kitchen…
And that’s where I took over. 🙂

OK…this makes me smile…! I love having these inside, real-life glimpses into parenthood, instead of the glossed-over, happily-ever-after version. Love it.

Leah, I loved your comment! I too hate the sugar-coated versions of motherhood. I’m glad you appreciated the post. P.S. My husband thinks this photo montage makes him look like a baby torturer. 🙂

Funny…no, your simple explanation of babies going from giggles to tears explained it all…hubby can rest assured! This post helps me to realize that babies/children don’t have logical, rational, intellectual reasons for doing what they do (giggles to tears in no time flat). Knowing this for some reason, really made the onus of being a ‘good mom’ not so, well, onerous! Russie crying like that had nothing to do with your hubby (or you) being a good or bad dad/mom…fact is, he cried. That’s it. It wasn’t an indictment of your parenting skills! I dunno, I’m not explaining it well, but this was such a gem to me today. It lifted some of the last remnants of the “burdensome” nature of parenthood that I’ve been grappling with. Thank you, Sarah!
