My husband snapped this photo of The Bungalow on a trip to Target tonight to pick up Nyquil for me (I have a bad cold!). I'll tell you, it never gets old seeing your book at Target. And, look at all the fun author friends I'm sharing shelf space with! (I'm looking at you Rebecca Rasmussen, Jael McHenry, Meg Waite Clayton and Rachel Bertsche!) Where are you finding The Bungalow? Have you seen it at your local Target store?

Today is the day that my second novel, The Bungalow, makes its debut! I'm so excited about my new novel being out in the world. I hope you all enjoy the story as much as I loved writing it. It's a very special book to me that truly came from my heart. (P.S. I dedicated it to my husband!) I'd be so honored if you bought a copy this week. The Bungalow is available for purchase at your favorite local bookstore, and at all the big chains, as well as soon at Target, Costco, Sam's Club and many other locations---across Canada too! (And, soon to be published in Germany and Turkey!) For online shoppers, you can order here. I can't wait to hear what you think of the story! Thank you so much for your support.

Thank you all for following along in my Behind the Scenes series, where I am so excited to introduce you to the very important people who have been so instrumental to the success of my books. Be sure to read my interview with my editor at Penguin, Denise Roy, as well as my publicist there, Milena Brown. Today, I am so incredibly thrilled to introduce you to my literary agent, Elisabeth Weed. Elisabeth lives and works in New York. We've been working together for a few years and haven't met in person yet, but guess what? She's coming to Seattle in February to meet me, and I'm absolutely counting down the days! (Seattle friends, she'll be at my Third Place Books-Ravenna reading for The Bungalow on February 15, so please come by to say hi!). Anyway, I cannot stop gushing about Elisabeth and what she has done to launch my career. She was the first person (aside from my husband) to read The Violets of March and, thankfully, decided it had a glimmer of something special. She took a chance on me, and I'm so glad she did! Here is a conversation between the two of us that I thought you might enjoy: Sarah: Most people don’t know the sort of comical story of how we began working together, and I think we should share it. I'll start! So, after my old agent left the agency I was formerly with, I was on the hunt for new representation with a new project---The Violets of March. I’d heard so many amazing things about you, Elisabeth, and was so hopeful that you’d take me on as a client. I waited nervously as you read my manuscript, and then the email came, with a “thanks but

Yesterday, my literary agent called to share some incredibly exciting news: I sold foreign rights to The Violets of March, and my third novel, Blackberry Winter, (to be published by Penguin/Plume on September 27, 2012) to a major publisher in Italy! There was so much excitement about the books in Italy that they were sold at auction! But, what made all of this so incredibly cool was the publisher, Nord, whose offer I accepted put together a movie (see above) to show me how excited they are about The Violets of March, and I'm so thrilled to share it with you. The editor there says she wanted me to see all the imagery that came to her mind as she was reading the story. It's truly lovely! Be sure to watch until the very end, where they included their logo with a little caption that is so cute! So, as of now, Violets has sold to four countries outside of North America (Italy, Germany, Spain, and Poland!) I'm just hoping that someone sends me on a book tour in Italy. :)

If you're looking for a special gift for your mom, grandma, best friend, favorite aunt, yoga teacher, favorite hairstylist, babysitter---or other special gal in your life!---consider picking up a copy of The Violets of March (I'd be so thrilled!). Let me know, and I'll send you a signed, personalized book plate to affix to the inside cover, wishing them a lovely holiday and happy 2012. Let me know in the comments below, and I'll speed it to you this week in time for Santa to make his delivery! (I love being Santa's elf!)
