Learning How to Knit

Do you knit? I learned when I was young, but forgot all my skills! I would love to re-learn. And, this cute sweater pattern might just get me to do it! Doesn’t it make you look forward to fall? I love sweaters. I think knitting might be just the thing to get me to slow down and focus on the moment (I’m always five steps ahead of myself—not good for stress levels!). Do you knit? What do you knit, and when do you find time to do it?

If I thought I could knit something like that, I’d be at the yarn store today!

I do know how to knit, but I notice that I only really do it in the fall and winter. Chicago winters are brutal, and nothing feels cozier than a fire and some yarn.

I do knit but haven’t for a while since I lost my knitting mojo. This pattern may be enough to get it back! I can see it now in a charcoal gray…

Sarah – If you haven’t been to Acorn Street Yarn on NE 55th Street in Seattle, you must go! They’ll have you set up in no time, complete with on the spot instructions, classes, and the best yarn the world over. No joke. I love to knit and crochet, mostly while watching a movie or a “Parks & Rec” marathon… so fun! Enjoy.

I am a fanatical knitter. (My knitting blog is here: http://www.morewithles.wordpress.com.) Another site you should check out — the Facebook for knitters — is Ravelry.com. It is the BEST hobby ever! 🙂

A group of girls at work started knitted over the lunch hour during the brutal Wisconsin winters. That morphed into a Stitch & Bitch group that met evening that enjoyed food & wine with our stitching. We meet during the winter months to unravel ;o)

I have made two scarves for myself and a scarf for my nephew (8) and niece (5). Early this spring, I finished a baby blanket for my newest niece’s baptism.

During our last visit home, the 5-year old found an old knitted poncho (I think it belonged to a doll) and now she wants me to make her one.

I think I almost like making gifts better than for myself. However, I found a great pattern for couch pillows. I’ve finished one and working on pillow number two now. The best time for me to knit (other than the winter) is on the porch as the fireflies come out … but then it gets too dark to read the pattern.

Wow, that’s a gorgeous sweater! I’m about to start knitting my first sweater this week. I work for a knitting magazine, so I figured it’s about time I learn!

I just finished The Violets of March and absolutely loved it (the only book I’ve felt that way about for several years now), and finding your blog has been an added bonus. I’m so excited for The Bungalow to be released!
