Healthy Home Tip: Use This Instead of Bleach
If you know me well, you know that I love to clean. I’ve been resisting hiring a house cleaner for years because, oddly, I think I’d miss cleaning my bathrooms. I’m aware that this makes me sound like a nut. Anywho … I read somewhere that, according to research, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide sprayed separately on a surface is “more effective at killing …Salmonella, Shigella, or E. coli bacteria than chlorine bleach or any commercially available kitchen cleaner.” (Here’s where I found the details.) Just be sure that the solutions are in separate containers and sprayed one after the other. Aside from the fact that spraying your counters twice is a bit of a pain in the butt, I like the idea of avoiding bleach (it gives me a headache!). I’m trying this! [Photo: Dennis Defrayne]

Yes! I will try that. I hate germs like none else. People laugh but I haven’t gotten sick in years. Thanks for the tip!

Great tip – thank you. I can’t handle bleach OR germs, so this is a great help!
